Create Playful DIY Santa Beard Cutting Crafts for Christmas Kids

Are you looking for a cheap, easy Christmas activity that secretly builds real skills? This Santa’s beard scissor skills activity is a total win — my kids absolutely love playing hairdresser to Santa to get him looking smart for the big day! And while they are giggling and snipping, they are practicing cutting patterns, hand strength, and patience.

This is a fabulous way for children to enjoy cutting practice and develop their scissor skills this holiday. Simply print the worksheets, grab your scissors, and you’re good to go! The printable scissor skills worksheets vary in complexity so you can match — and progress — your child’s skill level.

What You’ll Need

  • Printable Santa’s Beard Haircut Worksheets (from shop.kidscraftroom.com)
  • Printer paper or thin cardstock
  • Scissors (a range is fun — Amazon sells a great set with six different shaped cutting blades!)
  • Optional: coloring pens or pencils

About the Worksheets

There are 8 different Santa’s beard haircuts to choose from, so kids can practice lots of different cutting patterns:

  • Straight — loose and tight
  • Wavy — loose and tight
  • Zig zag — loose and tight
  • Mixed — loose and tight

Each beard haircut comes in 3 multicultural skin colors, plus black and white versions children can color in. And in addition to the ready-made haircuts, there are 4 blank Santa heads in both black and white and the three skin colors — use them for you or the children to design your own cutting lines to follow!

Step 1: Print the Worksheets

Download and print the Christmas scissor skills printables onto paper or thin cardstock.

Step 2: Color It In

If you’re using a black-and-white cutting worksheet, color it in first. If you’re using a blank design, color Santa in and draw on your own cutting lines.

Step 3: Cut Along the Dotted Lines

Children can then have fun cutting along the dotted lines — straight, wavy, zigzag, or mixed. Let them try a range of scissors; different blades make each pattern feel new.

Step 4: Mount Your Masterpieces

When you’re finished, mount them on the wall for a fun Christmas Santa’s-beard-haircut display!
